Osteopathy was founded in 1874 by an American physician named Andrew Taylor Still.  Internationally, there are two streams of osteopathy: Osteopathic Medicine performed by American-trained Osteopathic Physicians, and Manual Osteopathy performed by Canadian (and international) non-physician Osteopathic Practitioners. Osteopathic Practitioners address the whole person applying principles to improve mobility and function of all systems in the body using gentle hands-on techniques.  The result of this whole-person approach is often significant and lasting improvements of many health concerns.  Most Osteopathic Practitioners have multiple years of training in manual therapy (massage therapy, athletic therapy, physiotherapy, etc.) prior to entering osteopathic training.

Osteopathy uniquely addresses the causes which have led to dysfunction. Using this approach, an appropriate plan of action can be implemented and include lifestyle strategies to support your health.  Osteopathy is gentle and safe for all ages including newborns, children, and seniors.
